I think if you really love a person , you will love him despite all his flaws including bad breath .
But seriously , if you love a person , you would tell him honestly what's the problem . Both of you should now find means to remedy it , since it could be the problem roots from inside his stomach .

@wiLLmaH My boyfriend now my husband has halitosis , so we went to Manila and had it checked through endoscopy . True enough , it was found out that it was his bile not being excreted that caused it . He went on medication for a month , and his breath wasn't bad anymore .

@SIMPLYD Yeah, you are right! If you really love your boyfriend or girlfriend you don't mind the smell of his/her skunky breath or even "bagoong-munamun" smell of his/her armpit! Eventually, one will get used to it . . and may even - - craving for it!

Aw if they were really in love - your friend could have told the truth or hint out like do you want gum? If they're comfortable then it shouldn't be problem to bring up the concern.

@KnehKnah That is so sad though. If she loves him - she should give the courage and tell him. How did she bare to kiss him int he past? Just dealing with it. He is broken hearted. Bad breath can be fixed though!

@infatuatedbby She said they haven't kissed on the lips since they met, more than a year ago. There were but lots of hugs & kisses on the cheeks, accordingly. She is that conservative, that's why.

Kinda harsh calling off the wedding because of 'bad breath'. I mean they did have the relationship go long enough to consider marriage.
I'm guessing the 'bad breath' situation is recent or your friend couldn't hold her breath any longer when talking with her now ex-boyfriend.

@KnehKnah what ever happened to this? Still no wedding and definitely not friends anymore, right?

@KnehKnah and she never mentioned it? so when she turned down his proposal, what reason did she tell him?

@hereandthere She said she never had the nerve to tell him, although she whispered about hygiene & not eating spicy food so much.
When she backed out from the wedding, she said she told him she thinks she is not yet ready to tie the knot with him. But, he is not buying it.

She must have waited fairly long before he proposed. If this was an issue, why date him?

@ElizabethWallace She said he is kind, caring & lovable, dear Ma'am. It's just that bb which she can no longer endure.

@KnehKnah Ah, That makes sense. I guess the reality of his behavior finally sunk in and she decided she could not deal with it.

didn't she tell the man about the breath she smelled when they would kiss? or when the man whispered sweet nothings to her? if she loves the man, she should be "courageous" enough to tell him how she "feels when she smells" him.

@KnehKnah ow mai gawd. that is awful., didn't she smell him even while he was still courting her? especially if a person with BO uses strong perfumes to hide his real smell. gark! I virtually smell that odor, my dear.

@KnehKnah . . well, halitosis has no remedy, I guess. But if his bad breath is caused by not flossing, not brushing his teeth at least two times a day, eating onions and "bawang", or smoking , she should have found out first before saying babay, sweetheart!

if they really love each other then they cant go away and just because of it she say not then its not true love because this problem may come after marriage then what to do..so they have to keep trust on them self/...

Real love goes beyond what is physical and has open lines of communication to tell your partner what you like and what you do not like, i don't think your friend is really ready to marry and good she did not proceed

Err , they would not be in a relationship if she does not like the smell of his mouth in the first place or she could just tell the person . I dont think that is the main reason why she does not want to marry the guy.
