Is it working? what do you personally mean by secularism?? We see a country divided on the basis of religion and caste. What can be done to achieve harmony and trust?

to me secularism is simply the abscence of religion in the government of a country, most christian countries are secular most islamic countries are not. India with its majority hindu base may well be a secular society, and in my opinion is better for it religion simply causes division and wars

In my opinion a secular country is country which does not acknowledge religion. In India secularism as come to mean equality . In communist country like eartwhile Russia religion was outlawed ,that was their secularism. In India, politicians notwithstanding, the constitution recognizes religion. It is apparently of importance to know how many hindus and muslims reside in India.

Of course we do not use the world secular in any of the ways described above and we can conclude that India is not a liberal country.

I agree that politicians have lost all moral responsibility to talk about secularism. Most of the times it is peudosecularism. What I am interested to know is whether as individuals we can practice secularism?
