A television earns its 4K Ultra High Definition designation if the screen is at least 3,840-pixels-wide and 2,160-pixels-high. (4K is also known as 2160p.) That means there are four times as many pixels on the screen as a Full HD 1080p television. So, the extra pixels in a 4K TV only offer better resolution if the screen is large (think 60-inches and up) or if you sit really close to the TV (think: five feet). The 4K is still pretty new but it will be the Standard before long. So what do you think will your next TV be a 4K?

@TiarasOceanView I can't see buying one as I really don't need another TV. But from what it says about them they are the future in TV.

@Marcyaz Well the old one I had was fine for me. Though I am not entirely complaining, it is just I have a hard time wrapping my head about money going out for any reason you know? I can make due, though this one does have netflix on it which is good.

The price tag of the 4K isn't appealing yet Have you seen the new curved televisions they have? I always like looking at the tv section at Costco though. But I hardly look at a TV - I watch all my movies and such on the computer.

@Marcyaz Same here - We don't have a tv at my boyfriends. And 3 at my parents. I prefer watching tv on the computer, laptop or my phone

There is a limit to how beneficial extra resolutions can be. The human eye can only perceive a certain amount of small detail, which will obviously vary from person to person. We do reach a point where displaying a clearer, sharper and more detailed image would serve no purpose because people will notice the benefit. This is no doubt why the resolution is aimed at larger screens since on a small screen we would not even notice.

@Asylum What I understand is it has to have a big screen to be able to see every detail of the picture.

@Marcyaz Precisely, because on a smaller screen we would be incapable of discerning the difference.

@Asylum That is exactly what I think it was saying as it has to be a very large screen.

No, but i have seen some of them in action at Costco. They are cool, but I tend to have the TV on more as background noise than anything else it doesn't justify spending alot of money on one.

I really don't know all that much about TVs... I guess that I will wait until I hear more about them. I thought that a 3d TV would be awesome, but I think that they have pretty much faded away!

@Hate2Iron This is the new TV for the future, you know how they are always coming out with new things all the time. Hard to keep up with what is what anymore.

I guess this sort of TV sounds good. Not something I would rush out to get though. It's impressive and all but I am not one to upgrade everything every time a newer version comes out.
