This dish can be found in the mexican cuisine. I ate this dish the other day. I had never tasted it but when I did I discovered that they taste delicious; and not only that; they provide you with calories and protein. They also provide omega3 and 6 fatty acids
Cambarellus montezumae is found in fresh water rivers
What is your favorite exotic dish?

It is exotic as long as it is not local. I have eaten octopus but not much

I just had to go and check the Cambarellus montezumae. It looked like a kind of shrimp and after reading a bit, I found out that it seems to be a cousin to our sweet water shrimp. If I go to Mexico again, I will have to try it.
I love dishes made with sea fruit. My favorite, quite expensive now, is the "chupe de locos", a sort of abalone hot pie.

It is close to the shrimp and tastes also in between shrimp and crab.
Have never heard of chupe de locos. I must try it!

@quantum2020 Come to Chile! Although locos are much smaller now than when I was young. In some parts of the world the abalone can only be eaten by the very rich.
We have a crab here, (centolla) who lives in the south of Chile. It is delicious but very expensive too.

@marguicha I will some day pack my things and go to South America. I would like to visit the Andes and the Amazons. I must try Chupe de Locos and Abalone.

This wasn't exotic, but the strangest and worst thing I've ever tasted was barbecued raccoon. It was terrible!

For me it's "bondegi" silkworm in English.
I have eaten raw beef just a couple of weeks ago,
