I'm tired all the time! Wat is happening??

April 7, 2016 3:54am CST
So I wake up every morning even more tired and sleepy than before I went to bed and it's driving me insane! I work in front of a computer 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and most of the time I am required to wear earphones to listen to content/videos/calls. Although it seems like I'm not exerting myself in any way, when I get home I'm pooped. What bugs me is that even after feeling like I need to crash out immediately - I CAN'T. I dont know what it is.. How do I boost my energy levels, get quality sleep and stop feeling so lethargic.

One of the major problems with working with computers is that the frequency of light emitted by screens (and this includes tablet devices and phones) reduces the amount of melatonin your body produces. This hormone regulates your sleeping patterns so a lack of it can cause problems with trying to sleep. The only thing I can suggest is to minimise your use of computers, mobile phones, tablets etc. in the few hours leading up to bed time! This might help you sleep better and therefore stop you feeling so lethargic during the day.

That could explain the reason why I am always tired as I work in an office in front of a computer all day.

I am the same way and I don't know why and neither do the doctors. I am trying to increase water intake and see if that helps.

The doc asked me to check my vitamin D levels. He says it could be as simple as that and taking a supplement. Will check soon..

I also work in front of a computer or several computers full time. You really are right - it is exhausting. I think maybe it has something to do with not moving and lack of blood flow. At my job we have adjustable desks that we can sit or stand at so I have just a few days ago started standing for half the day. I will let you know if it makes me feel any different. Otherwise have you spoken to your doctor?

Adjustable desks sound like a great idea.. I wish they would have more consideration for people and their well-being in companies here. Doc attributes it to my thyroid problem but also said I should feel better with my daily medication - that was 4 years ago and I still feel the same. now he's asked me to check my Vitamin D levels. Apparently that could be a reason. Gotta check though. Do let me know if you feel any better

Hello welcome to mylot! You can help boost your energy level by doing light exercise even if youre sitting infront of your computer. Eating healthy food and drinking the right amount of water will also help.

You sound dehydrated. Need to drink at least 8 glasses of water. Start your day with a big glass of warm water.

you wont believe if I told you I hate the taste of water as is.. Always have to mix something in it.. I'm not sure if it's as effective.. but should certainly try to drink a lot more

You could be suffering from a sleep disorder.

Do you know anyone who suffers with any sleep disorders?

I guess it is because of staying in front of internet for hours. Or maybe you need to have an exercise to energize yourself. :)
