*My last rant about Sears for now...
Our dryer was delivered this afternoon in a generic white truck without a Sears Logo. You would think such a large company like Sears would deliver their items in a Sears truck, no?
Very disappointing.
I spoke to a live chat agent and the agent said: Most of our appliances are delivered by a Sears Truck and to report my delivery experience via telephone.
Nowadays with the news talking about imposers and such - it isn't safe to open your doors to just anyone even if you're expecting a delivery. If I was home alone - I would definitely be concerned. I ran upstairs to look and it was just a generic small white truck parked in front.
But, my boyfriend was home so we opened the garage. It was "Sears" but still. I once saw a mail lady driving a U-HAUL rental delivering mail. I don't know if there was shortages on mail trucks or what? I would trust it more if there was some sort of logo on the vehicle.
Do you ever get anything mailed to you with a generic van/car/truck? Have you ever encountered any imposers?[/b] I have witnessed one police imposer before. The person did not drive a police vehicle but I was young and . I was driving home one night and some car behind me turned on it's sirens. I pulled over and the people in the car laughed as it was just a fake..

I am glad all they did was laugh. Recently there's been a guy going around saying he's from AT&T. Not in my direct area, but about a county over this has happened. You have to be careful.
A lot of places now will outsource to to get the job done, but it is scary when you are expecting a company logo and not something generic.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I was quite horrified because I was newly licensed although I knew I didn't do anything wrong... Not that I know of - was just driving my normal route home.
But lately - there has been all sorts of crimes with people pretending to be so/so. It is definitely scary out there and like you mentioned they're going the cheaper route to get the job done!

@infatuatedbby Sad what this world is coming to really. Too many scam artists and not enough true people.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I can't believe the company is cutting corners! Maybe that's why they wanted to delay another 2 weeks to cram in the schedule or something.

Lots of places hire out their deliveries and they do use generic trucks.

I never had that incident, first time ever but it's probably to reduce costs!

@AbbyGreenhill Ohh! I guess I'm new to their way of delivering! I have always seen the company logos for all other deliveries we have ever purchased.

Me too! I would prefer the logo to be on the truck and it's just more professional.

Me either. It turned out being the dryer but I wasn't too happy about a generic truck coming to my house! Especially for a bigger company. If it was a smaller shop than I understand..

We have a lot here in our place but seems fine with us Filipinos. But not on large companies. Only on small companies, and we consider them but we are also careful in dealing with them.

Yes - it is wrong to impersonate a police car, or officer. It was a bunch of teenagers. There has been some incidents of people being arrested too I've seen on the news.

@infatuatedbby I thought I had read or heard something to that effect.

I have never really noticed that. Anyone who delivered things here always was fedex or had the name of the company on the side of the truck. I think you do have a right to be nervous and to complain about it. If a truck without a name on the side was coming they should have called you to let you know what to look for so you would know what to expect and not be nervous.

The truck belongs to the manufacturer or supplier or the logistic partner of the supplier of the dryer.
You can be sure that Sears do not make the dryer.
The only thing they do is to get your order, get your money, and confirm the delivery.
They will forward the details to their supplier, and the supplier will call the logistic partner to deliver the goods.
That is the way that all big companies do things.

My appliances from Lowe's came that way, too. Deliveries are scheduled with private contractors. That's why no truck logo. I did get phone contact that the truck was on its way and again when it arrived.

My mother ordered a recliner for me on Walmart. It was actually from Wayfair. Anyway, it was delivered by a generic truck too. But I knew it was my recliner because I was expecting it.

Very observant! There are indeed many scammers out there who make phony copies.
