Everyone today or tomorrow dies. Dies only once. Any chance of coming back again? According to physics, a particle once it leaves a particular space/place in a particular time will never come back. Gone is gone...
In the case of death, there is a lot of information in many religious textbooks how and what will be the passage of the Soul after death. But, the Garuda Purana goes a step further and explains how and what will be the passage of a Soul after committing a suicide. The entire Garuda Purana discusses elaborately the journey of a soul of the deceased and the rituals expected to be performed by his people after he discharges his body.
The Garuda Purana in the case of suicide gives a vivid description of the journey.
It states the soul of a person who commits suicide will neither leave the body completely nor is capable of making a re-entry. It will be in between the Journey. It can see, feel and experience the feelings of all it's loved one but still make any contact nor can share the agony. The position will be more painful than the one experienced which led to committing suicide. It will be experiencing the Karma life.
This is not like leaving the country to lead a happy life after defrauding the banks in a country.
By committing suicide one will not escape from the full cycle of life meant for the body had one not been committed suicide. To be clear if a man is supposed to live for 80 years commits suicide at the age of 20 years his soul has to wander without a body for the entire 60 years.
Should anybody prefer this karma life which is neither a death nor a life?

In simple terms it is something like shirking one's own work.
