2015 - Manchester Speculative Fiction – Spoiler alerts For much of its length this runs like a study of Manchester’s drug culture ecstasy rave scene as popularized in the media in the 1990’s. A well dressed charismatic, enigmatic figure, Eddie, seems to have a Svengali hold over the narrator but it is all a build up to a voodoo-like zombification process drawing unsubtle comparisons to the mind-numbing effects of drug use itself. Well written, and eager to set itself in Manchester, but not too original. Arthur Chappell
