I REALLY wish this guy would stop and pose...

Last year, a pair or Orioles started coming around this time to try to feed out of our hummingbird feeders. They stop by briefly, and as soon as they see Mom or I they skedaddle. Mostly we see the male. Since last year, I have been dying to get a photo, as they are so pretty. Earlier today I saw the male sitting on the back of one of our deck chairs. I went and got my camera, and to my surprise, he was still there. I tried moving 1) closer to the window so that I could get a clear shot, and 2)to the side of the window with no screen so that I could see him clearly. The closer I got to the window, though, the more I was sure the guy would take off as soon as he saw me----so, I took a picture of him through the screen, about four feet away from the window. Then of course, he took off. As you can see, that sure didn't turn out very good. That's probably the best shot I'll ever get of him before he and his mate disappear until next year. Oh, well...

I have caught a brief glimpse of an oriole a time or two. I never have been able to even get one picture of them.

@xstitcher I was once told to nail a half an orange to a tree and they will come to feed upon it. Never tried it though.

With the screen there, it kind of looks like a cross-stitch version of him.

@petatoncsca That is a good way to think of it, Denise. :)
