The way we remember things / what we want to remember is funny

I am sitting here trying to figure out the best way and shortest way to describe what I mean. This may end up being a bit of a long discussion because I feel obliged to write the backstory to this, for better understanding. ::BACK STORY:: I was a member of a site / forum to interpret dreams. This was several years before I discovered mylot, or even thought about online income at all. I used to study my dreams / interpretations, and I suppose you could say I obsessed over it a bit as well. On the forum, I met several people whom I enjoyed spending time with. Obviously, these were people from around the world, and none I ever met in person. I did talk to two of them on the phone. One person that I was the closest with lives all th eway in belgium. I use present tense, though I have not heard from him in many many years. In fact, the last thing he said to me was that I who I used to be. I was in my teenage years / struggling with early adulthood and a diagnosis that I don't believe anymore. I won't get into that as this would just make the discussion even more lengthier than it already is. To conclude the backstory, at one stage or another we swapped pictures of one another, (this guy I got the closest to) and well, that is where this "remembering things funny" begins. ---- The Funny thing with memories are... ---- Last night at work, I was thinking about my past and in a roundabout way, this guy came to mind. I started thinking about one incident where I went to a gallery hop and saw a person who was very attractive. There were a lot of attractive people there, honestly, but this guy just looked so familiar. Now at this point, I had not yet swapped pictures with the guy from online. It wasn't until maybe a week after seeing this guy, that I swapped pictures with the guy online. I don't think I ever told the guy online, but he looked A LOT like the guy I saw at the gallery hop and well it sort of freaked me out at the time. Ofcourse, you can't always be sure that who you talk to online is who they say they are. I think at the time, I just boiled it down to the "twin theory" . Now, I remember it a bit differently as well, but I won't go into that. What I mean is, I remember the whole situation a bit differently. I sorta feel sad about the loss of communication but as he had said, I had changed. However, he did introduce me to a love of the dutch culture and language, which I am thankful for. I started to remember all this because I was listening to a dutch artist that he had introduced me to. I'd like to think this discussion is a bit of craic, but well... Ever had a weird situation like mine above? We could also talk about dreams / the dutch culture but I have no questions for that lol...

A bit of craic is like fun / entertainment/ jesting but I think it can have negative connotations too.

How interesting that you would see someone who you thought afterwards might have been the guy you were communicating with. I had something similiar happen and i think I might make a discussion about it. Thanks for the reminder.

Let me know if you do make it because I would like to know more about it. I believe at hte time, I told a friend about it and she thought it was kind of creepy and was worried. Obviously, it almost seems as if I had a stalker but this guy I never saw again...
