Early Morning Blues With BBC2

I can’t understand early morning television in the UK sometimes. I switch over from constant sport being shown on the major well known channels such as that of BBC1 and instead the moment 3am comes along, BBC2, the second well known channel of the British Broadcasting Channel seems to be happier to show mini slots of preview programs rather than serve up an actual program that might be worth watching.
This cost cutting idea that eliminates program viewing might not be appreciated by who works on night shift, let alone anyone who might come in from a late night's clubbing - but in this day and age why does the BBC want to revisit the kind of approach they did in the 1980s?
For everyone else, the previews aren’t exactly fun as they only offer a minute or two of a snapshot of existing programs shown both on BBC1 & BBC2 and from programs shown at "normal" peak hours during the day.
Whatever the reason is, I think the BBC need to get a grip on reality. We are no longer a nation who safely tuck in after 10pm and say good night to the world (c)Nar2/crystalvisions2016
