Into the Groovy #23 - "No Clause 28"

Clause 28 was to be England's anti-gay law, prohibiting basically anything that might spread the "homosexual agenda." Flamboyant, charismatic, former Culture Club vocalist Boy George did his part to fight the would-be law with his protest song "No Clause 28." Other than "Time Clock of the Heart," and maybe "The Crying Game," I think that "No Clause 28" is the best work George has ever recorded. There are several mixes of "No Clause 28" out there. The link below will take you to the highly danceable version I own, which is on an old German acid house compilation CD.

You didn't like his songs as part of Culture Club? I also liked The Crying Game which is a forgotten underrated song.

No, I like Culture Club a lot. I've always liked George's voice. I just think he was great on this, plus I just like protest songs in general.

@teamfreak16 Boy George just didn't make it as a solo artist. The Crying Game was his most significant solo single. His being gay had nothing to do it with as he never kept his preference secret. So many 80s talents who were really good just failed to gain traction in the 90s.

Yeah, he's still around. In fact, I think there was a Culture Club reunion not too long ago.

Maybe, just maybe, I'll check it out. Why would Britain be anti-gay? Makes no sense.

I have no idea why, honestly. I'm going to try to include the Wikipedia page if I can.

I always liked his voice. I just found out yesterday, thanks to @FourWalls, that he's a judge on your version of The Voice. It's good to know he's cleaned up his troubles.
