What was your happiest and the worst travel experiences in your life time ?

I still remember while I was in Canada , I once travel from Vancouver to Hong Kong. At that time, the air policy was still allowing half of the plane remind as smokers seats. I hate people smoke but I made a big mistake in the airport by telling the check in staff that I want a seat far away from the non-smoking area. (Actually I mean far away from the smoking area but didn't know what happen at that time). By the time the plane was in the air, I suddenly found out the mistake I have just made and requested for a new seat for myself. But the plane was so full that I just didn't have a chance to move to a new seat even it was jumbo jet 747. I was staying in that smoking cabin for 13 hours of freight and it was the worse nightmare for my flight experience in my life time up to now. Thank God that all the planes have prohibited any smoke habit right now and we all can enjoy a better environment to travel in the air. As the happiest experience, I have received a free ticket from Hong to Vancouver once and just a small amount of money , I can upgraded the seat to first class . it was a long trip but I was quite enjoy with such a blessing . How about you ? Share with us ?

The best would be the first time in Paris and experiencing its wonders. The worst was Rome which was tacky but it wasn't all that bad when considering the sites.

I would love to be in Paris someday but not at this moment. Since both Belgium and France are being the hot targets of attack by the bad guys , it is better to stay away from these countries at the moment. However, It would be nice to have a trip to Europe and I always want to be there. Well, I hope it will happen in the future when I have enough money to do so. Travel by balloon is not bad as well but I wonder if I have the guts to try it.

@wildlittlefan I agree with you about the turmoil in Europe. I suspect I will never visit Paris again or Europe for that matter.

The worst was when I was in Arizona traveling back to Chicago. The plan over heated and we were taken off the plane. A few hours later back on the plane only to have it over heat again. Back off the plane. Then they had to find us another flight home, they couldn't so we flew to Minnesota and of course missed our connection flight to Chicago. Finally got home about 18 hours late. Horrible.

@wildlittlefan I hope so too, however my flying days might be over. I would prefer to drive to my destinations if that is possible.

Oh that sounds awful. I had a terrible experienve trying to get home from Sweden a few years back. I was visiting someone so I was traveling solo. As soon as I trained to the airport there had been some volcanic ash activity in the sky. I spent a total of 28 hours in an airport trying to get home. Finally it cleared up enough for me to fly home. What a disaster though!

Surely it was a terrible experience that nobody wants to try. However, it became a story of your life. I hope you will have a much better travel experience in the days to come.
