Internet Back to Not Working

Rant time. Sorry if you are sick of my internet blues. I am on a roller coaster with this internet company. I just paid for an install after seveeal months of my home internet not working and lo and behold I get home today and its not working at all. Receiving no signal whatsoever. Cannot even connect - like it cannot even find my wifi signal. Even if the signal was super weak you would think the computer would FIND it and connect....right? I tried to unplug the modem and replug it back in after a few minutes....no luck. Too frustrated to call the techs at the company yet today. I feel like I am on the phone with them every other day it seems. Sigh. Anyone else having any internet issues? Or any troubleshooting advice? (Minus the ridiuclous hold time and elevator music please. Lol)

I can understand your frustration. We had problems with our internet a while back. It was a pain in our behinds.

@maezee we are with the same company and we got it resolved. We can't really switch, because the complex we live in only deals with one provider, for whatever reason.

@dodo19 thats annoying. And gives you like no competitors to choose from. Ugh. Glad at least its working now. I have one other provider I could go to but its much more expensive - like twice as expensive.

my i nernet is cable from /T i me warner and it w orks fine it o ught to they now charge 59.,99 per month which has me really scrounging for money ry o find a ee computer whix and see if they cannot help I rest m u modem and router when ever the electrcit is off

@maezee herei n the retirement center the wiring is ver y old but we h ave not had a shut d own in months every couple of months California ?Edison shuts the power off from ten oclo ck at night to five am i n the morning while hey repair the gizmos on the light poles outside my wndow

Does the electricity turn off often there? I pay much less per month (like $25) but literally only got 1 or 2 days of service. Of course now that I am motivated to come online its not working. Gah. $60 a month seems like a lot to me also. I was tryinf to avoid paying that much but maybe I should just bite the bullet...

@Hatley, it just occurred to me that you might be able to get discounted internet service based on your income. I think the Lifeline program was recently expanded to include broadband services. That's the one where you can get a free phone and monthly minutes if you meet the criteria, and I believe the income limit is right around $25,000 per year for 1 person. What I'd do is contact Time Warner and ask about that program. See how you can apply, and if you're approved your services should only cost $10 per month. That would be a huge difference for you.

It can be really annoying when you can't connect to the Internet and you need to go online. We used to be quite frustrated with our Internet connection last time, but now we have changed to another plan, and this seems to be much better. Is the technical department helpful? Can they help to solve the issue? Hope you'll be able to get it fixed and it'll work well very soon.

@maezee Yes, sometimes I feel all these are considered as unnecessary hassle, why can't they just make it work at the first place? Hope it's working well now.

I hope so! Im going to call after volunteering today and see what they can do. I jist hate having to go through the hassle. But I do want the internet so we will give it a try.

C'mon switch over to us! If you switched over, and bundled your internet with cable TV, and a home phone, we'd give you a 50-inch TV! And if also switched your mobile phone to us, we'd give you a $100 discount. Oh wait! You're in Minnesota!

When I was there we had Comcast $60 a month but never had any problems, well worth every penny if you are online a lot like I am.

@maezee Can you get Comcast where you live? I'm sure they are all over in the US. I was in CA when I had Comcast.

It is too upsetting especially if you are in need of internet too much. When that happens to me, I keep on calling them by my phone. I do not care how long will it takes for me to have someone answer on the other line. I tell them my complaints and for how many days I do not have internet connection. If the problem is on their system, I can get a refund.

The only time they cut the internet in the middle of soething is when we have an earthquake warning here in the library. It has happened to me twice in the last month.

I doubt youre the only one having the issues, otherwise, they won't put you on hold. so, hows the connection now? must be a network restoration problem, but it's best to wait it out for now.
