Sometimes You Just Wish....

I started having a major music flashback after @JohnRoberts posted a video of the late Nicolette Larson (best known for her one hit, the cover of Neil Young's "Lotta Love," in late 1978) singing Jesse Winchester's song "Rhumba Girl" at a benefit concert for Lowell George (the leader of Little Feat). One of the great surprises of that video was Linda Ronstadt singing along.
It got me thinking about all the great songs that weren't recorded. Sometimes you just wish that someone had recorded this or that. Yes, it may not have turned out as good as it sounds in your mind, but that doesn't stop your dream.
Case in point: John's favorite singer is Linda Ronstadt (good taste!
). There's a video on You Tube of her singing Cat Stevens' song "The First Cut is the Deepest." That song was later a hit for Rod Stewart, then Sheryl Crow's in my opinion awful version. Ronsadt's live version put a deceptively upbeat melody to Stevens' lyrics about trying to get over a failed relationship.
Sadly, Ronstadt never commercially recorded the song.
Sometimes you just wish. At least we have the live version.

Never was a Sheryl Crow fan, but I do have to give her kudos for climbing Alpe d'Huez in 90 minutes.

Oh that was a treat! I wonder why she didn't record this. Right up her alley. That girl could sing! That's a flashback to when I was totally besotted by her.
