MLB.com reporter Anthony DiComo reports the news on his Twitter account New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom will miss next his scheduled start on Wednesday when the Mets host the Miami Marlins at Citi Field in New York City due to an injury to his back. deGrom left his last start on Friday versus the Philadelphia Phillies with an injury to his lat muscle on the right side of his back. deGrom will be replaced by right handed pitcher Logan Verrett on Wednesday. deGrom believes that he will be ready to make his next scheduled start when his turn to pitch come again. Collins said when deGrom returns from paternity leave to attend the birth of his first son, he will examined by the physicians of the Mets to determine if he will be needing a 15 day stint on the disabled list or not. deGrom is the ace starting pitcher on the defending National League Champions pitching staff. Collins is playing it safe with his ace right handed starting pitcher since the 2016 baseball season has just started and he needs the services of deGrom for the entire season.

As good as the Mets staff is overall, anything happens to deGrom and they are hurting. He's that good.

Hopefully he will only miss one start which is tomorrow and be able to pitch in his scheduled start since he claims to feel better.
