And that means that entrance fees at every national park in the country will be waived until April 24! While I'd love to take the kids up to the Grand Canyon for a day, we've decided to wait until they're a bit older. We'll probably end up somewhere a bit closer to us like Tuzigoot or maybe Montezuma's Castle. I'm favoring Tuzigoot because they have a printable booklet that kids can complete to become a Junior Ranger, and once they turn it in they'll receive a shiny badge. I think my kindergartner will probably end up taking it for show and tell on April 27th, since that week is a free choice week for them. Do you have any national parks near you? Will the fee-free days get you to visit a park you normally wouldn't go to?

Yep, it includes every single National Park that normally charges fees.
On certain days each year, the National Park Service offers free admission to all national parks. Discover this year's fee-free days.

I believe this is in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the park service. Joshua Tree is the closest NP to me but I have been there and to almost all National Parks in the west.

It is this year, but I think they typically offer free admission during National Park Week. Joshua Tree is definitely on my list of must-visit parks.

@yukimori Joshua Tree is in the California desert near Palm Springs. It has that bleak stark desert beauty.

We have one nearby that I know of, although nearby is a 35 minute drive. We used to go there every year in elementary and junior high school.

No, we don't have a national park near our home.

My favorite Park, Glacier National Park, is probably still snowed under. Going to the Sun Highway often doesn't open until...I'm not sure when...perhaps late May or early June.

In my city most parts are free of charge. However, we don't have a national park here. You are lucky to have a national park in your country. Your children will be so glad. You are a very nice parent who like to spend quality time with children. I am always interested in Yellow Stone Park in your country. Hopefully one day we can have a travel there.

That is awesome! I have National Beaches parking pass but it'd be cool if I knew earlier, Maybe next year I will plan something! Enjoy your visit. That'd be cute for the kids to get a little shiny badge on being a Junior Ranger!

Yes, we have several, and the cost is minimal. It goes towards upkeep. Have fun!

Interesting! I didn't know this but will certainly talk to my husband about it. I know he has work this weekend but maybe I can talk him into a Monday trip. We took our son to the Grand Canyon on veterans day when he was far to little. It was snowing, cold and miserable but it was free.

Your kids will surely enjoy their park adventure; more so if they become Junior Rangers. There are parks here, but we don't go there because it's quite far and crowded.

No National Parks in Wisconsin, though we have a National Forest. I've never been to a National Park and would like to one day.
