A whole day trying to get tickets

Dear lotters,
I have discovered that everyone flies away as soon as they can.
I tried to buy air tickets for Claudia, her 2 children and I and it took me a whole day (24 hours) to do so.
I could not find good ones though and on the way to St. Maarten we will have to wait around 16 hours until the next flight. I already know that we can get out in Panama and maybe get a cab to do some sightseeing there. Buy traveling with a 5 year old does not make it easy. I went once to the old cask in Panama City, but for Sofia those will not have any interest.
What makes me angry is that I had bought tickets at a certain price at one of those online agencies and after I was almost finished with the paperwork, they announced that the prices had changed.
Have you had these problems? This is a first for me as I never travel when chidren are on vacation.

It is easier to travel when you don´t depend on the timings of other people..

I usually buy the tickets at the airport on the same day of the flight!
Never have bought tickets online.
When you travel with children is a great idea to take with you some type of entertainment, such as toys, laptop or smartphone. They can find their own entertainment with these kind of electronic devices!

It depends on when you are going, where and with how many people. It seems that everyone in my country will go abroad (caribbean and Mexico) when the kids are out of school for Winter vacations. The cheapest airline by far is Copa and there are no tickets there.

The problem is that the airline that goes to St. Maarten (the cheapest from here) is fully sold at those dates.
