Do You Like Old Black and White Movies?

I often watch old movies on the “Turner Classic Movies” channel. I’m not a BIG FAN of black and white movies, but there are a FEW that I will watch if I see them coming up.
One movie that I saw AGAIN recently, involves the murder of one sister by the other, and the takeover of her life. Bette Davis plays both roles as twin sisters. The name of the movie is “Stolen Life.” Have you ever seen it?
Since I am a mother of twin boys, I like movies about twins. However the really strange thing about this particular movie is that one of my twin boys is married to a woman who really looks a lot like Bette Davis, in her younger years. The similarities are amazing.
“Roman Holiday” is another black and white movie that I enjoy watching when it comes on TV. Gregory Peck has no idea that Audrey Hepburn’s character is actually a princess, when he falls in love with her in this movie. Have you ever seen this movie?
And then, of course, there is Elvis’ FIRST movie, “Love Me Tender.” I always watch any of his movies that come on TV, if I know about them. For some reason, our cable service does not have TV Guide channel, so sometimes I miss a movie that I would like to see. I hate that, because even if I couldn’t watch it when it comes on, I could record it for later.
What’s your favorite black and white movie? Or do you have one?

"Gone With The Wind" starring Clark Gable is actually in color. There may be an older version of that movie in black and white, that I'm not aware of.

@CaptAlbertWhisker If "Gone With The Wind" was ever in black and white, I've never seen it. The color version came out in 1939, so you would have thought it was in black and white, being so long ago. Color was rare, but that same year, "The Wizard of Oz" came out in color too, with a few black and white scenes at the beginning and end of the movie.

@puddleglum And Raymond Burr, whom I have actually met in person. When I was a long distance telephone operator years ago in Denver, Colorado, Raymond Burr was doing a telethon to raise money for some charity and me and my friend, Sally, along with several other operators volunteered to work on the set answering the phones.
I happened to be seated nearest to where he stood and so during the breaks he would sit on the edge of my table and talk to me. It was quite an experience for me. I was only 19 years old at the time.

Yes, Gregory Peck in "To Kill A Mocking Bird," definitely. And I also liked
"The Apartment." How about "Rear Window" with James Stewart and Grace Kelly, I think?

@IreneVincent Oh! I love that one too. Yes, you're right, it was Grace Kelly and James Stewart. Thelma Ritter was also in it. She had all the funny lines.

I like watching old movies too. Even though I know the ending and what's going to happen, I still like to watch them.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen that movie. Who stars in the movie? It sounds familiar.

I didn't know that you had to pay extra for that channel where you are. Of course, my son pays for the cable we have, so I don't know which channels are FREE and which are not anymore. I pay extra for Netflix. I really enjoy having unlimited access to hundreds of movies on Netflix.

@IreneVincent No, there aren't many family friendly shows any more.

@cindiowens Families watch these new sit-coms though, and I think its half of what's wrong with some families nowadays. So much sarcasm. I never thought sarcasm was funny. Maybe I'm different, but I just don't like the "family" shows that are out there now. None of them.

I don't know if I have a favorite black and white, but I grew up on them and after a while you don't even notice and you simply imagine the color the scene would be. Funny how the mind works.

Yes, that's true. You can picture what the colors might be. And a few of the old movies have been colorized. It's amazing that they can do that.

You would not believe how much my daughter-in-law looks like her. I may have a picture somewhere I can post.

I have seen Stolen Life. I love black and white movies as they are from an era of superior filmmaking compared to the empty noisy gimmicks that are today's big movies. A major number of the greatest movies ever made are black and white beginning with Citizen Kane. My favorite black and white movie would be Casablanca.

Yes, I like "Casablanca" also. And any Cary Grant movie. He starred in black-and-white and color movies.
