Top 10 Songs by The Cure #3 - "Burn"

A fantastic soundtrack can make a great movie even more memorable than it might have been with merely a "good" soundtrack. Shaft, Super Fly, American Graffiti, any Tarantino film, really, all benefited from great music. One of my all-time movie soundtracks is for the 1994 film The Crow. Not coincidentally, The Crow soundtrack opens with #3 on my Top 10 Songs by The Cure series. Although an argument for Nine Inch Nails' fantastic remake of Joy Division's "Dead Souls" can be made, it's The Cure's "Burn" that is, to me, the most powerful tune on what is a very strong compilation. "Burn" fits The Crow perfectly: a song as dark (and yet, as energetic as) the movie. I have no idea how long Robert Smith and his band worked on "Burn." There was no Cure album released in 94, so it appears they had plenty of time to spend on the song. It certainly sounds as if some serious effort was put into it. I can't find any evidence that "Burn" was released as a single, as I see no chart action whatsoever (odd, because the soundtrack album hit #1 on the Billboard 200, without, it appears, the help of a hit single or two.) I love this movie soundtrack. "Burn" is one of the biggest reasons why. This Top 10 Songs thing was started by @JohnRoberts, with heavy participation by myself and @FourWalls. Feel free to pick a band for your own Top 10. After all, the more the merrier!
A music video for "The Crow" fans everywhere! Edited by little ol me....with love and care x A tribute to Brandon...

I loved the Crow movie, I even had the soundtrack years go. I do feel that this song was one of the best songs on the Soundtrack;

@teamfreak16 It was. Though If I had to pick between the sound track and the movie I'd pick the movie.

@girlwithanikon - I'm surprised it's lasted so long, cassettes used to wear out after awhile. That's really cool that he still has it.

I saw The Crow when it came out and honestly don't remember the soundtrack. Burn didn't get radio play as I don't recall it. By 1994, alternative radio had pretty much gone all grunge.

I don't remember ever hearing it on the radio. I heard it at goth night for awhile, but not the radio.
