Poem - The Final 42

@Jessicalynnt ‘s latest challenge for we humble poets involves the words Who? What? Why? Where? When? How? 42! 42! 42! 42! 42! 42! Why do you answer every question with this number? You know the city of Hull is in the River Humber So What did you write these two digits for instead? What on Earth is going on inside your head? Don’t reply with forty-two. It simply will not do. Where do you think it will get you Constantly saying 42? Is it some Douglas Adams Thing? The flicker in your eye suggests I’m registering Close to the truth you poor deluded youth Adams was joking when he said 42 Was the answer to Life, The Universe and All. How could you take a novel as true Two plus five doesn’t add to 42 While today’s correct label is Monday That’s really all I have to say Until the time when you come back to reality You’ll never grasp complex theories of causality While you answer the question of Who Was Desmond Tutu by parroting 42 Because, you see The right answer is plain to see Though you might consider it heresy Adams was wrong – it’s really 43! From the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Addams in the early '80s. Featuring the super- computer named Deep Thought.
