Afraid of Growing Old?

They say that now a days life is too short to live. With all those incurable diseases and sudden death recorded, a man is lucky enough when he reaches the age of 60 still healthy and strong. I was once afraid to grow old like 60s or more because I was afraid to be left alone, unattended and uncared. I was scared that my children would soon be very busy minding their own lives and I did not like to be a burden to them when that time comes. To add on that fear, I had also seen, heard some real sad, sad stories of elderly people who were just left by their children in a retiring house with strangers taking care of them. But growing old is an inevitable part of life. You do not have the option to choose whether to die young or grow old because it will happen. I would rather choose to embrace growing old and be thankful for reaching that age having experienced the worst and best in life.

Those are the same wishes we have and of course we need to save money when that time comes.

All I can say, we need to enjoy the aging process. It is not always a part of being afraid.

I think growing old well is a reward of life and can confer wisdom and joy. Of course there are also the times it doesn't. God knows what will make us into the people He wants us to be, whether it be growing old gracefully, with difficulty, or not at all.

I think about it right now as a reward because not everyone gets the chance to see it.
