By 1980, British post-punk band Siouxsie and the Banshees had begun to morph into a more polished, listener-friendly unit with their third album, Kaleidoscope. It was the first Banshees album on which drummer Budgie and guitarist John McGeoch (my favorite of the many Banshees guitarist's) played, and it peaked at #5 in the UK. The album featured "Christine," which had been released as a single prior to the making of the album. Wikipedia set me straight, because I always assumed the song was about a girl in the throes of an acid trip. Turns out, "Christine" is a true story about a young woman, Christine, who suffered from a mental disorder called Dissociative Identity Disorder (boy, was I way off.) The song hit #22 in Britain (Singles-wise, the band wouldn't see an American chart until the following year,) and would remain a fan favorite to this day. @JohnRoberts created this Top 10 thing (he is in the midst of a Top 10 Blondie series,) and it's a lot of fun. Just ask @FourWalls, who just finished a Top 20 series on the late Merle Haggard. So pick a band and join the fun.

With you and John Roberts both delivering a Siouxsie article today, I am a bit overwhelmed by tracks I haven't heard!

Their version of "The Passenger" is fantastic. I had to cross it off as I made my list, so I'm glad he posted that. Gives the song some exposure here.
