The rain stopped at around 4 PM. The city is a disaster, but almost everyone has running water by now.
The damages are as big as the ones the leave a mayor earthquake. When there is not one bad thing, another comes along.
The only ones that are unhappy because the rain has stopped are the children. Today the classes were suspended, but tomorrow they will have classes again. I bet they are wishing for another heavy rain.
In a few minutes I will empty my tub. I was thinking about using the water, but there will not be any reason to water the plants for weeks. So the water will be lost.
Still I will save the water I have in my kitchen. Maybe I can use it for soups and broths. I will see. I don´t like to waste.
El Niño behaved like any other infant: a little pest (Niño means child in Spanish).
I am sorry for all the people that have had losses.
I´m lucky and tomorrow my life will be as normal as any day.

El Niño is a common phenomenom. But it generally doesn´t make much damage here. Mostly there are changes in the Ocean´s water and the fish cannot be eaten for some time.

@marguicha I didn't know that about the fish. How strange.

When it was announced that there was going to be a water cut, I thought I´d water the plants
. My plant will not require watering for weeks now.

I'm sorry for all the rain you had there. I hope things will clear up soon.

Part of the blame is due to big contractors who were building a highway. They were careless. It will take years until someone decides who is to blame legally and until insurance pays.

Finally! But the whole city is a mess. Although part of the blame has nothing to do with nature.

I visited New Orleans twice. The fist time I went with my husband and the second time we took our daughters. We fell in love with the city. I mourned the destruction that Katrina did and it pains me to know that it has not recovered yet.
