Mouth Pain

I'm really in pain tonight! I developed a mouth ulcer on my bottom gums over the weekend. I think it has something to do with getting my teeth cleaned last week. Maybe the hygienist scratched my gum or something. And its in a place where I keep wanting to rub my tongue over it! So annoying. The big problem is the tooth that needs the root canal though. Ever since the dentist poked at it, its been hurting. This evening when I got home – I had a sharp pain shoot through my jaw for no reason at all. Since then, its been randomly throbbing and this is while I'm on antibiotics. Its a month and a day before I have my root canal. There is a reason that my dentist wants to assist the dentist doing the procedure – due to my severe anxiety – and I have to be on antibiotics for awhile first. I have a minor heart issue and although its not even enough to be followed by a cardiologist, the dentist doesn't want to take any chances. Taking a month of antibiotics to make sure to kill any infection there may be. That leaves me quite a bit of time to deal with any pain and irritation this tooth is going to cause though,

Is it normal to take a month full of antibiotics though? It is very nerve-racking to be going to the dentist. I hope you feel better.

If you have a bad infection in the tooth and/or a heart issue it can be normal

Wow! You're experiencing a lot. I hope the pain ceases. That's great that the dentist is taking percautions. Try to relax.
