Shaolin Fasting. I have never heard of this before. I may mean that Shaolin monks love fasting but they get healthier and healthier. Does anyone know what Shaolin fasting is like? Is it like ordinary fasting such as water fasting or juice fasting?

I know that Thai Buddhist monks eat two meals a day. They eat early in the morning, and they eat the second meal just before noon. After that, they will not eat anything, though they will drink water. They spend the morning doing manual work, and the afternoon is for meditation.

If I am not wrong, they don't eat in the day time bu drink. The fasting period starts from 14 hours -16 hours - 18 hours and 24 hours. You have to start from 16 hours and move on to 18 hours if you think you feel ok with 16 hours, and so on.

Although I am a Chinese, I haven't heard Shaolin Fasting before. Shaolin kungfu fighting is much more famous. I don't know whether Shaolin monks will have the fasting because they need more energy so that they need more food. I think usually a few senior monks will have the fasting to practise their mind.
