Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune reported the news on Wednesday that former Chicago Bulls basketball coach Tom Thibodeau was hired as President Of Basketball Operations and basketball coach to succeed interim coach Sam Mitchell who was informed he was not returning to coach the team next season.
Thibodeau was the basketball coach of the Chicago Bulls from 2010-2015 leading the Bulls to five straight playoff appearances but he was not able to lead the Bulls into the National Basketball Association Finals during his tenure as their coach.
Thibodeau started his career as an assistant coach in the National Basketball Association in 1989 under Bill Musselman who was the first coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Thibodeau has worked as an assistant coach with the Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics before he was hired by the Bulls to replace Vinny Del Negro who coached the Bulls from 2008-2010.

The deal is worth $40 million plus. He's got a foundation of Towns and Wiggins to work with and they are 20 and 21. I read the Lakers blew a chance to hire as he was interested incoming to LA.

This is a good move by him as the Timberwolves were one of the best coaching job openings right now
in the NBA and also it is a good fit, because they have better young talent than the LA Lakers and the New York Knickerbockers. Plus he does not have to run the triangle offense. It seems like Phil Jackson is not listening to Carmelo about hiring this guy as the New York Knickerbockers new head coach.

@Fabayan Yeah, I didn't see him coaching the Knicks. The triangle is an issue for any coach. The T-Wolves have a better foundation than the Lakers but I read he liked the spotlight as he apparently has ego.
