It was the last regular meeting for AWANA tonight and the theme was Battle of the Sexes - Boys versus girls during game time.
The great thing about that was with it as nice as it is out they were able to play outside instead of inside. I have only one regret. I didn't have my camera with me. The kids went wild all over the back lawn of the church and had a lot of fun. It turned out the boys and girls tied at two games apiece.
The kids also had another bit of fun tonight. It is our head of AWANA's birthday tomorrow so the kids were all invited to go sticker happy all over her. She said she had 'sticker pox' but it wasn't contagious. She looked great.
Being the last night my kids were doing their best to get as many verses said as possible. One little girl said seven verses. The only boy in my group got another jewel for his vest. And the girl who said 7 got a patch. You should have seen those faces when they were able to get one more thing on their vests.
They all have something to be proud of and look forward to at the closing ceremony next week.
So that's how I spent my night. I'm so proud of my kids.
Do you encourage your kids to memorize Bible verses? Thanks for reading.

Glad it was a good night last night with the kids. remember growing up learning verse is GAs, Sword Drill and VBS. In GAS I was crowned Queen which was the 4th level of 6 in Girls Auxlery. Had my first white formal for that event and would have made Queen with scepter if there wasn't a shake up at that church.

@Elizaby I thought the Baptist churches had AWANA - they do here. I didn't know about the Assembly of God as I was part of them but nothing was ever mentioned about any youth activities of that nature. Yes, they had a youth meeting on Wednesday night, but it was generic in nature.

growing up in the southern Baptist it was the Wednesday night class for girls where they moved up through various levels learning scripture and doing things with ultimate goal of being crown Queen in your church and based on your notebook/ journal even higher levels by your state's Women Aux department. In the Assemblies og God I was a leader where they also had various levels earning badges with the goal of being crowned Ester.
