it's a girl!

Once upon a time, when a young Victoria was on the throne and folk travelled from A to B by foot, a beautiful young gypsy girl met a well-to-do gentleman, a student at Oxford. She fell in love with him and he fell in love with her. They got hitched. Scandalous! A few years later the beautiful young gypsy girl died, after producing just one child who sadly didn't survive infancy. The gypsy girl probably died due to the make-up she generously slathered on her face so as to give herself a paler, English rose complexion. Maybe her baby passed away due to this too. I don't know. The well-to-do gentleman remarried, this time within his social circle {much to the relief of everyone}, and his wife gave birth to three daughters. One of these daughters met a dapper chap and married him, giving birth to her own daughter in the August of 1900. That daughter grew up to marry the younger brother of a man who would never be King, and thus became the mother of a future Queen when Wallis Simpson caused a mischievous scandal. And that, my dears, is the story of the beautiful young gypsy girl whose premature death paved the way for a baby to be born who would one day be Queen. That beautiful young gypsy girl was the granddaughter of my great-great-great-great {gypsy} grandparents, the niece of my great-great-great grandad, and the cousin of my great-great grandmother. The well-to-do gentleman became the Queen's great-grandfather. And today, she is ninety. Wishing you a most splendid birthday, ma'am. Little things that change the world ...

The notion of morganatic marriage does not exist in England and a commoner can be king/queen, so she is a heir to the throne. I read that our late president Mitterrand was also a far off cousin of the queen, but, being a Catholic, he could not pretend to the British throne.

@topffer I'm off to check up on how many people need to die before I become King.

Unfortunately the well-to-do gentleman was not actually royalty; he was just very posh. Plus, he's not an ancestor of mine, sadly. So, no heirs here. :(
