Aware of Cataclysm

A few years ago I got hung up on cataclysms and their effects on the world. I recognized that there are many different cataclysms impacting us right now, and that we need to shake free of their effects in order to make the world a better place. I started a website back then, but then lost interest in it. I tend to do that.
I'm thinking I might need to find that website again and restore it. After all, all this time later and I still think about it. Perhaps I need to bring it back just for that reason alone.
I have ideas on how to fight the current cataclysms around the world, because I know if I don't try, they will only continue to get worse.
Don't you want to live in a safer world?

It's not too scary to me since I am somehow linked to cataclysms from the past. I got used to them I guess.

@OneOfMany How'd you figure that you're linked? To specific events, or just generally?

@OneOfMany A nice zoo in the city of Basel, tucked into a corner shared with France and Germany. Nothing about pilots flying planes into the side of Swiss mountains? The earthquake - the large hadron collider is further south, but perhaps could be responsible for an explosion or earthquake in that region... I dread asking - how many years to go before your next octet year?

I think many want to, but have no real idea of ways they can make differences, it seems overwhelming and too big for average joe to make a difference

That's why I will start telling people how they can make a difference. And amazingly, I will provide numbers so they can get a preview of what exactly they are doing to help out!
Telling someone they need to help, and showing them exactly how they would be helping with a range of various options are completely different. I'm working on the numbers how someone can actually change the world in their own backyard, as long as a bunch of us do the same.

@Jessicalynnt Even a simple water barrel helps out for water storage. Have it in a location where the water can leech into the ground slowly and have a screen mesh below the opening with a layer of gravel on top. If it collects water from a roof, then you are minimizing storm water runoff, which all adds together and becomes a problem.
Anyway, the gravel layer keeps things like mosquitoes out of the water and from birds, bees, and other things from drowning in it. Water sitting in the barrel gets to infiltrate the soil (especially if you have a layer of gravel below the barrel) and flow into the water table, which helps guide it towards the aquifer.
Of course a water barrel is the lowest level of things that could be done, but it certainly would help out if millions had them. Anything kept out of the ocean in the form of flood water is a really good thing.

Most would have to admit they would prefer a safer world, but people do not know what they can do.

People are still in the mentality of praying for rain, let alone taking the steps they need to ensure there's no need to ever require a random weather pattern.

That's why you convince them to do something that makes everyone's lives better while increasing their own profits as well.

@CRK109 Because people haven't learned another way to make money while helping the planet yet.

The biggest cataclysm happening right now is us. The population of people alive now is the cataclysm, since it's changing everything.

@MarymargII There's a lot of room everywhere, but the resources are concentrated to set areas. That's why I've resolved to change the world by changing how we approach water. Reduce floods, store water in places like deserts and things. Even in time drop the ocean level.
I always go grand in my imagination. Then I go simple and practical in application. Although I do like my grand idea of the Sahara Super Complex. It is a facility that stretches several miles (maybe even much farther) into the desert and uses sea water to create power and uses natural heat processes and gravity to desalinize the water into fresh water.
The fresh water is then piped to different areas around the region or even farther to convert the desert to fertile farming lands, and the brine enables salt harvesting. Whatever byproduct of energy comes from the generation can also be sold or is used to build up the area.
Two giant coastal gates are what lets the water in. Gravity is the whole thing that fuels the entire operation. Anyway, that was something I thought up one day.

It will, and for a while, but it has a chance to move the other direction. Sadly I have dragged my feet for too long on the issues!

We all must do our part to seeing a better future. Taking care of a prime necessity to life is my first step. After all, once that's out of the way, things can improve like never before in recent human history (I can't speak for any human history older than 12,000 years ago).
