Day 35
Psalm 35
Psalm 35:1 < Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.
2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.
5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.
6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.
7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have dug for my soul.
8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.
10 All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliver the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoils him?
11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
12 They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.
13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.
14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourns for his mother.
15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:
16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
17 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.
18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.
19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.
20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
21 Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.
22 This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.
23 Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.
25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify themselves against me.
27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
When anyone comes against us, our first thoughts are to get even with that person. We want to see them hurt as much as they hurt us.
David was no different, though instead of taking vengeance on himself, he sought God’s will in enacting vengeance on his enemies. He pointed out to God how much he loved him and sought him at all times. He reminded God that his thoughts were always towards him and he gave God praise at all times.
Why should God help you? Why should God defend you against your enemies? What have you done for God that he would help you?
God’s promises are for everyone who loves him and accepted his Son, Jesus, as Savior and Lord. When he looks at you and sees the blood of Jesus covering you, he will defend you. You are his child, just as much as Jesus is his son.
When Satan comes against you, tempting you with those things that brought you low in your former life, God will step in and shatter the actions Satan brings against you. When Satan devises evil against you through sickness and disease, God will reach down his hand and thrust Satan away from you.
When we remind God that we are his child, that we accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, that we live our lives only to serve him and do his will, that everything we do and say is for his glory and honor for he alone is worthy, then God’s justice will be swift, and we will see all our enemies destroyed, and we will not need to lift a finger against our enemies.
Have you reminded God who you are, and what you have done for him? David reminded God all the time about how much he loved him and stood up for him against his enemies. If David did it, so can you.
Let’s pray: Father, I am your child. I love you and only seek to do your will in my life. Help me when Satan comes against me to destroy my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

I remember the Bible study I took some years back. I used to attend it for two consecutive years and I learned aa lot from the study of the Bible.
One principle that remains incrusted in my brain and that I always remember is that as human beings who were once attached to God but who, now most of us, are not is that we must trive to search for the kingdom of God while on this world, in order to gain enlightment and return to him when the plan is done here on earth.

I must admit, wrath is my temptation.. and especially if I was in a position to execute vengeance, it will be difficult to hold back.

THank you, Valerie. I've taken time in the past to memorize those last two verses and needed to be reminded of them again. I will pray, sometimes for God to hide me under the shadow of his wings, which it talks about in various places in psalms. God surely wants to go to bat for us, we need to trust in him and his timing.
He already knows what we need and desire in this life, but it's when we remember to ask and remind him of those things that we're letting go and putting our trust in him instead of trying to do it all by ourselves.

Thank you very much for this post. This is such a very important reminder to each one of us here. It makes me reflect on the relationship I have with God. The words here remind me also to lean on God in everything that we do. In everyday, let us seek for His divine intervention.
