I Failed It...

Well today was my drivers test. I was nervous as anyone would be, but then we had to wait for so long to actually do the test. My appointment was for 2pm but I didn't actually take it until 3:30pm. I failed because I didn't go from 50 mph to 35mph before reaching the school zone speed limit sign which was not far behind the 50 mph sign. I was slowing down, but I didn't want to slam on the breaks to get to 35. I also made the mistake of palming the wheel while dooing my 3 point turn. I cried a little after getting in the car, but today wasn't so great. We hadn't eaten since 10am and I was sitting in the car with a head ache and hunger pangs from 2-4pm in 80degree weather. I am going to see if I can get another appointment for this week or the next before my permit expires. I don't want the same instructor though because as if I weren't nervous enough he kept making rude comments under his breath as I drove. Did you fail your first drivers test? How did you react to failing if you did?

I nearly gave the instructor whiplash when I attempted to parallel park. Tried it twice before he said to forget about it. He had me try to park in front of the post office during rush hour. In a small town everyone tries to get to the post office on their lunch break. Yeah, I was sweating bullets at the thought of trying to park there. He told told me that he would give me my license but I needed improvements. I was thinking yeah, you have to because I passed the test. No, not with flying colors, but had a little wiggle room.

I flunked the parallel parking part of the test. Still can't parallel park to this day!

I don't parallel park and choose to walk farther anyway because I don't like squeezing into tight spots. Even in a super market I park away from everyone else.

I failed my first test, but I went back a few days later and passed without too much difficulty. Nerves play a big part, but you can do it.

I did, because the instructor seemed to have made up his own words for what things are called. He told me to turn on my 'backing lights' and I had no idea what he meant. If he said 'reverse lights' I probably would have tapped my brakes. I've never heard anyone else call them backing lights... Anyway, he was an unhappy fat man and didn't like me. My friend told me that he had bribed the fat man with a box of donuts, which is why he passed. My next test I passed with no problems.
