I have always claimed that Pwer, Corruption & Lies is my favorite New Order album. While I was putting this Top 10 Favorite New Order Songs series together, as I edited the list down to ten, I realized that I had a lot of songs from their 1985 album Low-Life on the potential list, and not too many from Power, Corruption & Lies. Which leads me to believe that Low-Life has been my favorite all along. And why not? Low-Life contains one of New Order's best-ever songs, "The Perfect Kiss," a fun piece of danceable synth-pop that even contains, at one point, croaking frogs (trust me. It works.) Depending upon which chart you're looking at, "The Perfect Kiss" was a hit of sorts. The song peaked at #46 on the UK Singles Chart, but #1 on the UK Indie Singles. It also was a #5 hit on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play and Hot Dance Singles Sales charts. Fun Fact: Drummer Stephen Morris did not play live drums on the song. The drums on "The Perfect Kiss" were entirely pre-programmed. Morris usually played along with programmed drums, but that was not the case here. @JohnRoberts started these fun Top 10 Series'. You are more than welcome, encouraged, even, to join the fun.

Interesting range. To me this sounds quite different from something like Blue Monday

Oh, it is like night and day compared to "Blue Monday." It doesn't even sound like the same band.

This New Order retrospect is a reminder of how they great they were. I had forgotten just how many "hits" they had. Listening to The Perfect Kiss takes me back to when it was new.

I know. These guys were a great band. They were perfect for the 80's. Funny stuff: when I saw them in England, after the final encore, Peter Hook remained on stage. He set their equipment, amps, everything, on fire. Got everything going really good before he walked off.
