One More Thing to Scratch Off My To-Do List

Unfortunately tonight is the last night of AWANA for the year. It's been an enjoyable one with the kids. Their energy was more than I could handle at times, but it did make me feel good to be around them and with them this past year.
Tonight is the closing ceremony and the kids will get their hard earned awards. What I loved best about AWANA was the children getting to know me and opening up to me. It seemed to happen all at once. Suddenly they all wanted my attention at the same time. I don't remember the last time I had so many people all tugging on my ears the way those four did. Though the girls were more excitable than the boy was. It made me feel alive for a couple hours a week.
So my Wednesday nights will be just another night once again.
Anything new happening with you? Thanks for reading.

Nothing new around here. It's good you were able to work with the kids, every seed you can sew while they are young is important.

@Drosophila It's good because it also gives me time to get my books taken care of.

might the church have somewhere else you can help until it starts up again? Perhaps summer bible school, or eldar visits?

@just4him Not those kinds of elder, hehehe, meant senior citizens! Many churches have those that need visits because they get lonely

I would need to be a member of the church to be an elder. I don't know if they have VBS. Right now I'm content to wait until next year. I have a lot of work to do to get two books published - one second edition and the other finished on the publication road.

It's a church youth group. The kids learn scripture verses, play games and have tons of fun every week. It's done now until next year.

Sad it is ending for the year which is a little surprising to me any group in the church like that I was a part of or taught went year round (except of course VBS but sadly that has shrunk from two weeks to a week or less in some cases)
