The Detroit Tigers on Wednesday made a roster change by activating from the medical family emergency list their closer Francisco Rodriguez.
The reason Rodriguez was on the Tigers roster was not explained to the public by the team officials.
Outfielder Tyler Collins has been demoted to the Tigers AAA minor league team the Toledo Mud Hens to make room for Rodriguez on the roster on Wednesday.
Collins made headlines on Monday when he messed up a play in center field against the Oakland Athletics. The Tigers fans booed him. Collins flashed his middle finger to the fans at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Ausmus insisted that even though Collins did say he was sorry that he did not behave like a professional when he was booed, the demotion was related to his lack of production as a hitter having two base hits in 20 at bats during the current baseball season.
Ausmus feels that having an additional pitcher on the team is more important at this stage of the current baseball season. You be the judge.

At this time of year, teams needs an extra pitcher because starters aren't stretched out yet. I gotta activate K-Rod on my fantasy team.
