Another fail but maybe a blessing in disguise?

For some reason they didn't want me to know, the website I've applied for a captioning job emailed me yesterday saying they cannot go forward with my application. Of course, that just means I failed and that they don't have the time to explain where I went wrong. I'm sad but this just means that I need to look for other opportunities. Perhaps I can try my hand on writing articles, essays or short stories. I love to write but I'm hardly an expert on anything and like I posted before, I don't know if I'm good enough. My last resort would be going back to manufacturing which doesn't pay much where I'm from. My last real job was eight years ago and I stayed home after my son was born. I started earning from the Internet since then but the websites I used to go to are now defunct. Over the course of years it became harder and harder but for some family reason, I was only allowed to take care of my child. We don't believe in having other people take care of someone else' child. I'm older now and my son is almost 9. I really need to regain back my life so that I can make things better.

Your writing will get better the more you write. It's like anything. Practice makes perfect. As far as the website is concerned you have to look at it not from the point of view that you failed but from the point of view that it wasn't right for you. Hope you find something that suits you.

I guess so. I really did my best and reviewed all the guidelines but perhaps it just wasn't for me. Perhaps I should just improve my writing more. This is something I could really do everyday.

@maxen07 Sometimes it's not actually the quality that isn't good enough it's possibly just the style. For instance It's unlikely I'm going to be suitable for a serious, factual article site!

Lol my last job was way more than that. it's a shame that I too became jobless, but with the family business, you can't just ignore it since mom couldn't manage it on her own.

At least you have a family business. I wanted us to have an offline business but my mom was more worried about the business getting in the way of the ambulance that would bring my dad to the hospital for check up. The carport is a good place because we love alongside the highway.

@maxen07 well, I guess you're right. Right now we can barely pay the bills.

I am sorry to hear about what happened to your application. Just think that you deserve something better than that. If you love writing, then try to write and submit articles to those legit sites. I think you can ask an advice to our fellow mylotters. There are many writers in here which I think are very generous enough to help.

Thank you, I will definitely do that. I was thinking of taking a writing course but the good ones I found online before with really good teachers require payment. I could use advice from more seasoned writers here.

Thanks! I love writing and I was hoping to get my income from this the way I used to but perhaps serious writing can be my forte if I want it to be.
