Glad they got the light back up

Dallas, Texas

This marks about the umteenth time that street light at the end of the street has been knocked down by a speeding car or truck. It is up to me to call City Services. It is then up to Oncor to respond. If I was the Mayor I could get the lights up in under 24 hours of a phone call. But I did my best to keep 311 operators busy. Yea. I get it. People need to pay attention more. But if I ignored the problems with trash on the streets, pot holes, fallen street signs and car parts strewn across the lawns of my neighbor's properties, well nobody else would bother. The city of Dallas can thank me for being ready willing and able to keep them up to date in my immediate neighborhood. Getting involved only requires making that phone call. I managed to not only get police and firefighters to arrive faster at the accident scene over the years but I managed to get the City of Dallas to fill in pot holes, repair and replace fallen signs and light poles but I got them to finally put up a traffic light to slow down traffic at a major intersection that I know will cut down on traffic related injuries and fatalities over the next several years because of it. Do you call your neighborhood services when you see a need to be addressed in your area of the city?

I once called the authorities in a region in the open country to a visit to an area where tress were being cut indiscriminately. The police took time to arrive; therefore, the felons could not be warned. It´s good when, the authorities do something with respect to something not functioning in the neighborhood.

@lookatdesktop Sometimes is like that. This positive thing is that one is given attention to those kinds of issues. In my case, I have recieved minimum attention in those regards.

Yes, but they are still lazy in my opinion.

They're lucky to have you live on the same area.

I think more people should be like me. Concerned about their neighborhood's being clean and safe and a place to be proud of.

I have called about lights needing to be fixed before. Other things I haven't really noticed anything that needed to be done.

I've never thought about it. But I probably will be thinking about it more now.
