Not keeping all eggs in One Basket

In these days of lay offs and a bad economy the wise thing to do is not work for one person. As a freelancer one can have as many clients as you want and even if a couple of them lay you off, you are not jobless. You can add more clients as much as you can work.

You cannot depend on one source of income. It is better to have multiple streams of income so if one thing fails, you still have a way to live.

I do the same thing. As a freelancer, I don't stop looking for clients. I keep on accumulating projects/clients. By the time one is done, others are lined up. It's a wise strategy because there is a steady flow of income.
