Holy Fire

May 1, 2016 9:43am CST
So today is easter in my country(orthodox country).I don't belive in gods so I don't actually celebrate this but I was playing something at my mother laptop and I've heard at the tv that some priests go to Jerusalem, take "holy Fire" bring it in the country by plane, then distribute it to every church in the country by midnight and the people go to church to light their candles with "holy fire". I find this kinda stupid because it's a oblivious lie. I think it's a lie because last time I was at church on easter at midnight I've seen the priest light the candle using a lighter.

That is interesting. I never heard this story before. Just because a priest did something, does not mean that God cannot produce holy fire. People are not perfect. Belief in God is a relationship, not a religion.

I don't know about the fire from Jerusalem but i'm sure the fire didn't fly by plane into my country and to every church

@Skrysekh This must be something for only your country. I just never heard of it before. The only parallel I can draw is the Olympic Flame that travels around the world and lights the first torch at the games. Runners carry it and pass it from one to the other and sometimes, it is on a ship.

Religion is full of lies, but some people like to believe those ideas and if it makes them happy I guess that's OK!
