Public holidays are wonderful as they allow family to get together, travel plans happen, or otherwise just a lot of lazing around and catching up on gardening or house-word. However you spend long week-ends and public holidays is up to you, but a great MIND-BREAK from the pressures of work is great. In South Africa this past week - we had all in all, two wonderful Holidays and an extra public holiday. I went on a break-a-way with M and got back to play my bowling championship on Sunday which turned out to be very rewarding as my team came second and won a fantastic cash prize. Today was just getting a little bit of normality back in my life and catching up with the piles of washing - YUCK! All is done now so tomorrow i can kick back and take a load off while chatting and responding to all mylotters that I have missed. Its been a while. I am looking forward to seeing what you all did over the last six days . . . I hope the reading material is entertaining!

so far other than yet more money worries and a tornado just missing our home (but doing damage), and a birthday, you didn't miss much

@Inlemay it was a bit scary, and we do have damage, but hopefully we can find a place that will work with us

we sat there for a while with some binoculars and watched the "mad men" in their cars drive around the park, like playing with dinky cars, then we had a cuppa coffee and ventured down again, From atop we saw so many animals and the view was spectacular indeed. thank you for enjoying my photo

When you are retired, holidays are not much different from regular days. I had a great weekend, went for a long walk on Saturday, church twice on Sunday. Sounds like you had a good weekend as well.

I am a little weary of retirement as my hubby has not yet found his niche. I play bowls and go visiting with friends, and travel when i can, He is not fond of traveling, nor people so the thought of him retiring is daunting to me. I am working on it

@Inlemay My husband was retired before me and he loved to travel, so we did some during the two years after I retired, before he passed away. I have always been able to find something to do and now I travel by myself or with friends.
