The Associated Press on Monday reported the news the San Francisco Giants who are currently in first place in the National League West Division with a record of 13 wins and losses have called up from their AAA minor league team the Sacramento River Cats to replace outfielder Angel Pagan who is suffered a mild strain of his left hamstring on Sunday running on the base paths during the Giants win over the New York Mets. Giants manager Bruce Bochy does not expect Pagan to spend anytime on the disabled list since he is expected to miss only four to five games. Williamson has a batting average of .355 in 18 games played for the River Cats during the 2016 baseball season which was a reason to call him up before the start of a three games series versus the Cincinnati Reds that will start on Monday in Cincinnati Ohio. To make room for Williamson on the Giants roster, left handed pitcher Steven Okert was sent to Sacramento since he gave up four earned runs in five relief appearances in 2016.

The Giants need Pagan. He's their sparkplug.
