Euthanasia

Good morning mylotters....last night I was reading my course books...I barely read them, but now as the sword of exams is hanging over my head..I have to. I came across the concept of euthanasia i.e. mercy killing. It is like killing someone..seeing that he is not able to live normal life.Is it okay to kill a person saying that he is nothing more than a vegetable.Though it is done with the consent of guardians,it is legal, but is it morally verified. I read the story of a person..he wasn't able to dress himself, care himself..but opposed euthanasia. And one day..he with his efforts became a successful psychologist. He changed his life. Everyone has right to live.Nobody can snatch it.It is like murder .Isn't it.

I have spoken with people on both sides of this debate and they all have very strong feelings. I'm against taking a person's life for any reason, however I don't know if I would feel any different if I was suddenly not in control of my own body anymore. I guess it's something we never truly understand unless we walk in the shoes of the people involved.

@mavlana It sounds really good in theory. I have a feeling that if someone was really at the end of their rope (and trying to be at the end of their life), you might have a tough time motivating them to want to live. Someone who doesn't want to live any longer usually feels that way because of depression (a chemical imbalance in their brain) or a medical problem that's out of control (such as cancer that can't be cured). But I agree with you that I would never say never. Life is too precious to waste and I hope I always see life that way.

I agree..but instead of depriving someone of life, one can motivate for life..I know its difficult. It is not about what people say,its about life.

There is a huge debate going on over this issue in Canada right now. In fact, the law against it has been struck down and new legislation to allow it is coming in.

Most of countries are allowing it...but it in no way can be accepted as legal.I don't know why they are helding debates..it should be the decision of person.

If a person still has the ability to make decisions and is not in unbearable pain and there is still some hope, we should not intervene in a negative way and we should leave them alone to live their lives and assist them to live. Whatever, we should leave the person to decide what to do with their lives.

For sure, it is not acceptable in my country. It is a crime that needs to stop. I would go for DNR than euthanasia. There is always a miracle if a person should still live here on earth or not. It is only God who can decide if it is time to end the journey of his or her life.

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I do believe people have the right to die with dignity.

I know life is tough sometimes and I have seen many people suffering like that but with family love they are doing well.
