In all most all religions doing pooja or prayer is followed by certain traditions and procedure. There are some 'nos' that should be kept in mind. In Hinduism while Lord Vishnu is prayed for peace and good health Lord Shiva is worshipped for peace of mind and immense wealth and for the liberation of the soul from the earthly things. While performing praying Lord Visnu or any other deity in any religion it should be kept in mind that; Nobody should wear Chappals or sandals inside a prayer Hall; Always wash your feet and do prayer irrespective of the Diety you are worshipping Never chew a pawn or any tobacco which makes your mouth and lips red; Ladies should never untie their hair; Ladies should never wear tight fitting clothes Ladies should never perfume their bodies Nobody irrespective of their gender should light an incense stick in anti-clockwise direction While praying with a book in your hand never turn back to the earlier page or try to reverse the page; You should never show your back to the deity after the prayer is offered; Never put off the candle or light in front of the Deity with a blow;

I am a Christian, and I respect other people's beliefs, I find your post very interesting, you are surely a very spiritual person, and I like that. I agree that we all must come with an attitute of humility and respect whenever we aproach a temple to worship God,
