Thanks be to quick thinking bus drivers

My second cousins bus had a tree and power line fall on it. My cousin (the child's mother) could have been killed had the bus driver not had her climb on due to strong winds. From what I've been told it was s near miss as the bus driver had just shut the doors when the tree and power line fell. All kids are ok I believe. Thank goodness the bus driver let my cousin on!

Thank You. I had just woken up when I heard about it. I caught the aftermath on the news as they had sent reporters out to the scene.

@kevin1877uk I am doubly glad that my aunt was down at my cousin's house to take care of the other two small ones. Had she not been, and the other kids had been with my cousin, things may have gone very differently.

From what I was told, glass shattered around my cousin's head. She may have a few cuts and scratches, but she, and my little cousin, are safe.

Yes Definitely! I was talking to a relative of mind, and mentioned that i wasn't sure the bus driver was allowed to do something like that. She was really letting my cousin on so that she could get her daughter off the bus as it was quite windy out. American school buses have about three steps up until you are on solid ground. I think she was still on the steps when the tree fell. They were able to evacuate from the back.

Some kind of miracle. Glad your cousin entered the bus before the incident.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Very rare; however, when they occur it´s for good ends of the story.

Wow....Your cousin was really lucky!! Way to go to the bus driver on their quick thinking, and also for allowing your cousin to join them on the bus due to the weather!

My aunt was down at my cousin's house taking care of her other small children. Had she had to drag them to the bus stop with her, she and her two youngest, may have been killed!

That was good of the bus driver. At least no one was hurt.
