The monthly trip to the supermarket. / myLot

Although I go often to the super to buy bread and other small things, I go once a month, at the beginning of the month, with the list that will fill my pantry. I have a list in Excell with all the possible needs. I print it and check what are the groceries I need. This helps me a lot to keep track of my money and my budget. How do you buy your groceries? Do you make a list? How many times in a month do you go to the supermarket?

I tend to do the shopping once a week and top up with fresh bread and milk as and when we run out but from the local shop!

I did have the habit of filling the cupboard and freezer every now and then and topping up in between. However, since retiring I have been content to shop daily.

The supermarket is not so near and I am lazy. That´s why I do a big shopping once in the month and small ones when I feel like it.

we go around once every 3 months.. LOL.. but every 2 weeks i make short trips to the grocery to buy those that are needed ASAP

I have the super nearby so for me it is easier to have everything at the super and not having groceries using up my house space.

I don´t buy in bulk as I live alone. When I cook a cup of rice, it´s a side dish for 2 or 3 meals

I began by finding out which meals my family members seemed to like best, and then I built my shopping list from there. Every two weeks (when we are paid), I go through the fridge, freezer, and cupboard to find out what I have and what I need, a take it from there. Since I make a lot of meals with rice, I tend to buy the 20-LB bag, and it lasts me quite a while since I am only feeding three people.
