The Crazy Social Studies Teacher

Earlier tonight, I wrote about my 8th grade English teacher who turned out to be a pedophile. Well, my 8th grade Social Studies was something else in her own way. She sure managed to mentally torture her classes. She was prone to screaming fits and making fun of students in front of the class. She was mostly known for screaming at her husband or her chiropractor on the phone during class. She blatantly played favorites. If someone had a sibling who'd been in her class before, they were automatically her pet.
Since I was an only child, I didn't have that benefit. She made it clear the first day of school that if she didn't like you, forget getting anything better than a C in her class. Since we were all in the gifted program – getting a C was the equivalent of getting an F. She refused to ever let us use the restroom and forget going to the nurse if you were sick. She told us we'd have to be bleeding to death to leave her classroom. Instead of actually learning anything, we'd listen to her stories about growing up and how she was named Sally after a teacher so – of course – she had to become a teacher too.
She really disliked me. No matter how hard I tried on an assignment, she always marked me down to a C. For one big project I spent weeks weaving a bag on a little loom I had...she gave me zero points for creativity because my mom had no money to buy me more than one color of yarn. She made sure I got a C for first semester of 8th grade, which should have gotten me kicked out of the gifted program. Thankfully, it was overlooked and I was allowed to stay.

She's not fit to teach! Why does the school administration allow such kind of teacher? Parents should report her to school authorities for disrespecting the rights of the child and for bullying them!

She sounds like a unit. I never had problems with my teachers. Being the wallflower they felt sorry for me and tried their best to make me feel accepted.
This teacher would have had a rude awakening if she had been one of my children's teachers. I was one that didn't take any crap where my kids were concerned.

I am sorry for your bad experience. It seems that a lot of favoritism went in also in my grade school, and high school years. My two oldest children has a first grade teacher that constantly belittled some of the other class mates to tears. Finally I had been informed that teacher was fired after many complaints from other parents.

Ugh teachers like that would drive me crazy. We had a school nurse that was insane like that. I remember the one time I puked all over the class room in high school because she didn't believe me that I was sick, and then when the teacher called down to the nurse's office the way she talked to my grandma was even worse, she said to my grandma when she called, "Jennifer claims she puked." Claims? I'm lucky I made it to a trash can. That's really embarrassing as a high school student to puke.
