Family semi-formal dance

At the elementary school where both of my children go there is a parent involvement group that holds fun things for families to do such as movie nights and board game nights.
What they have come up with now is a semi-formal dance. A family of 4 can go for $10 if you buy tickets ahead of time. At the door will be $15. Children cannot go alone they have to be accompanied by an adult.
I think this sounds really fun. I am going to take my children shopping for a dress and suit.
The last time I went to a semi-formal was when I was in high school back in 2001 and I went with my best friend a girl.
I refuse to dance but my daughter loves to. I don't think my son will dance but we will all go and just have fun seeing our friends.

I think it sounds really fun too. I hope I can find some nice clothes for us when we go shopping this weekend without spending a fortune. I really am not sure what to pick to wear for this event being that it is semi-formal. I tend to over dress or under dress for things.

I do wish that some of the students were able to go alone and enjoy it even if there parents cannot go. Like maybe the 5th and 6th graders should be allowed to go without an adult like the glow in the dark dance they are having tonight that my daughter and her friend are going to.

I love any kind of family bonding time especially as my kids get older and want to do less together. The theme of this semi-formal is Under the Sea. I am curious to see what they do with the decorations. I know a friend of mine has offered to do a photo area and take pictures. I think it is going to be a lot of fun.

What a sweet idea! It's nice for the family to be able to get out and have fun together. My parents used to square dance, and the adults brought their kids. We didn't dance but just played and got up to general hijinks :)

That is really neat. I think how years back people went square dancing all the time is so neat. My children's cousin had a sweet 16 party and it was country themed and they taught the kids how to square dance and played music. It was really fun to watch. My daughter loved it.

@shaggin - I used to love to play dress-up with my mum's big, swishy skirts!
