The Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday made a roster change by optioning first baseman Jason Rogers to their AAA minor league team the Indianapolis Indians. Rogers will be replaced by shortstop Jung Ho Kang who was activated from the 15 day disabled list on Friday. Kang had been placed on the 60 day disabled list on September 21, 2016 with a torn MCL and a broken left leg that was repaired via surgery. Kang did spend a rehabilitation assignment with the Indianapolis Indians since April 17, 2016. Kang will replace David Freese as the Pirates starting third baseman on Friday when the St Louis Cardinals will be hosting their National League Central Division rivals in Busch Stadium in St. Louis Missouri. Kang will only be playing in two of every three baseball games with the Pirates until he has gotten his feet wet this weekend.

I am surprised they are going with Kang since Freese has been hitting a respectable .291.

That is incredible that the Pirates will bench Freese who has a batting average of .291 this season.
