I can't compete with @FourWalls, but I've been to a lot of concerts in my time. Which means I've seen a lot of great opening acts. Which means, of course, A Top 10 Favorite Opening Acts series is in order.
In the 1980's, I saw Belouis Some at Red Rocks, opening for Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I've rarely seen such an energetic support act as I saw that evening, with he and his band playing as if THEY were the headliners.
Belouis Some hails from England. His "Some People" did alright as a hit, #33 in the UK, #67 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #8 on the US Dance chart.
Despite landing a song on the Pretty in Pink soundtrack, and being headliner on a Swatch Tour (remember those?) he really never reached the heights he should have.
To this day, however, I consider him one of the most entertaining opening acts I've seen.

I saw Cowboy Junkies as a headliner. They were great.

Ooh, what a great top ten idea!!! I have two opening acts that'll make your chin hit the floor: James McMurtry (opening for the BoDeans), and Bruce Cockburn (opening for Warren Zevon).

I have that "Some People" song (which, by the way, is a cute play on his name [stage name?]) on a collection of 80s music. I'd never heard it before, but it's kinda cool. I'm glad you enjoyed the show!

Yes, his real name is Neville Keighley. It's a fun song, but the entire album is really good.

How come I don't know Belouis or this song and it charted on Billboard? Great classic 80s new wave sound. Some People is exactly the kind of song that KROQ would have played and they missed it somehow. Apparently he was a one hit wonder but 80s new wave is loaded with them.

He had a few minor hits, but this is all he'll be remembered for (the album was great, by the way). He's actually still at it.
