My 18 year old son is a man of few words, and they are often sharp. I love him dearly, but he is far from the gregarious, outgoing person that I am. I try to be very respective of his introverted personality, and sometimes I know I push too far. I never know what he's thinking or how he's feeling, but I know those are things for him to decide how to express, not for me to pry into. Yesterday, he gave me the most wonderful Mother's Day gift! It is a copy of one of my favorite books, "The Stranger" by Albert Camus. I even wrote a flash fiction story inspired by it, here: https://wakefuldreams.wordpress.com/2015/11/25/the-beach/ Anyway, I collect different editions of this book as I find them in thrift stores and book shops. This is my 4th copy, excluding the one that I gave him a few years ago, and my first hard copy. I know he doesn't have very much money, and a $20 book was probably every penny he had. I can't express how much that kid means to me.

I had no idea there was a movie. I'll have to check it out. I love this book. His bio father, whom he has never met, gave me a copy and told me to read it, and I fell in love! lol

Such a beautiful gift! My first born also has an introverted personality. He sure does not say much about anything, but I've learned that he does say something when he thinks it's important. Each time my phone rings and it's from him, my heart would beat faster because I know something has happened. Happy Mother's Day!
